I love jazz because...its a direct window into the soul I was first exposed to jazz...as a teen. I was an usher at the Hollywood Bowl and saw Ella Fitzgerald's last concert. I met Rosemary Clooney when she performed with the Honolulu Symphony while I was playing the violin section. The best show I ever attended was...Bela Fleck and the Flecktones christmas show in Honolulu...the 12 days of christmas in 12 different keys and 12 different time signatures...WOW The first jazz record I bought was...vintage stephane grapelli My advice to new listeners...what legendary bassist John Clayton told me...listen to what inspires you...
