Dr. Michael Stechison is a jazz pianist and vocalist. He has played since age 5. His repertoire is varied encompassing jazz standards, pop, and some original work. He is an energetic and dynamic performer that really connects with the audience. He plays solo or as a trio. His CD released in 2006 entitled “by myself, now and then” is available through iTunes, his website, and www.cdbaby.com. This has been reviewed in Jazziz magazine in March 2006, as well as the Piedmont Review. His playing is characterized by a classically-fueled complexity rich in its harmonic inventiveness.
