About Me
I'm just a fan. I play piano, but by ear and just for myself, but listen to all types of music. Both of my grandfathers were professional musicians--one played cello in the Santa Rosa Symphony, the other played jazz trombone in Portland, Oregon, Chicago, and New Orleans so I grew up listening to a wide range of 'the greats'.
My Jazz Story
I was first exposed to jazz as a child. My grandfather played jazz trombone in the 1920s--Portland, Chicago, and New Orleans. My other grandfather played cello in the Santa
Rosa Symphony so I was exposed to a full spectrum of music. I sang a lot in school--choir, solos, and play piano by ear but just for myself. I enjoy several types of music of
Medieval to current, classical, soul, R&B,and jazz, but for jazz---I'm not too fond of progressive. I want to hear melody! Brazilian, latin, Afro styles win me over.
