About Me
CELIA MALHEIROS, composer, singer, multi-instrumentalist, arranger, producer,
educator and author.
Born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Celia has been performing and leaving in the US for
30
years.
Her performances and works include: Recordings with Hermeto Pascoal on her CD
Sempre
Crescendo, Joao Bosco on her CD Cenario Brasileiro, performing at SF Jazz Festival,
Monterey Jazz, opening for Ray Charles, Carlos Santana, composer of film and video
sound
tracks, director of the Brazilian All Star big band for 13 years for the SF Carnaval
Ball.
World tours in 2006 thru 2014

Malta,
After the Carnaval world tour in the fall of 2009.
Her work as an educator includes workshops and lectures in Europe and US, artist
in
residence at Wheaton College in Massachusetts, composer in residence in New York
at the
Music OMI.
Author of Brazilian Guitar Book released in 2017, a collection of her original guitar
pieces.
My Jazz Story
I was first exposed to jazz at age of 7 when I heard Louis Armstrong and Ella, I fell in love with both and how they could use their voices like instruments and improvise. I was hooked !!!
