About Me

Carolyn Nelson began her musical career as a studio musician, singing jingles and background vocals, including a recording with Oleta Adams. She has been on tour in over 75 cities throughout the United States and Canada as a soloist and back-up singer. Carolyn fronted her first jazz trio when she was still studying voice in college in the Midwest and her love of jazz has grown over the years. Carolyn recorded her first CD, Come a Little Closer, in 2010 and it has received airplay on jazz radio stations across the country and was picked up by the syndicated program Jazz After Hours. The NYC Jazz Record called the CD “…a laudable debut that features Nelson’s precise musicianship and bright sound.” Chris Slawecki said Carolyn’s vocals were “crisp and pure and refreshingly beautiful” in his review in All About Jazz. Carolyn can be heard on Pandora radio and her music is available on i-Tunes and CD Baby where it topped out as the #4 best selling CD in the Crooners/Vocals category.
