My Jazz Story
I was first exposed to jazz hearing Artie Shaw playing clarinet when I was about 7. He's always been a strong influence on my playing and musical style, and I'm working on a project to get a
tribute band going. I'm often torn between which instrument to concentrate on - sax or clarinet, so end up doing lots of both!
When I wrote my book, The Pro-Sax Companion, back in the late '90s, John Dankworth kindly endorsed it, and used it himself to keep in practice. It's all you need to get to a really top level of
playing, and it's also great fun to use as it comes with an accompanying CD with exercises that are complete pieces in themselves. Please refer to the Teaching section of my website,
