Andy Cowan & The Nina Beck Trio

About Me

Andy Cowan (vocals, Cajon) & the Nina Beck (keyboard/key bass) Duo (or Trio to Quintet) have long been making the interpretation of the classic songbook, jazz, and jazzy takes on contemporary tunes, Latin, swing, blues, clever parodies, and originals their own -- something audiences discern and truly appreciate.

Cowan began his Hollywood career in the '80s as a talent coordinator, writer, and recurring comedy performer on The Merv Griffin Show, where his national vocal performance debut, a la Frank Sinatra singing ‘80s tunes, was with The Mort Lindsey Orchestra and Jack Sheldon. He’s an award-winning writer/producer/performer and the only writer associated with Cheers, Seinfeld, and 3rd Rock from the Sun. His staff and pilot writing credits represent over a dozen comedies and talk shows, several of which he hosted, including the CableAce-winning comedy short for Showtime he wrote and produced, 6 Minutes. He is the creator and host of the comedy/therapy podcast, The Neurotic Vaccine, launched by Benztown McVay Media Podcast Networks in 2022, and nominated in 2023 for Best New Podcast and Best Comedy Podcast by The Quill Podcast Awards. His memoir, Banging My Head Against The Wall: A Comedy Writer's Guide to Seeing Stars, foreword by Jay Leno, was published in 2018 by Black Rose Writing and acquired by The National Comedy Center in Jamestown, New York, in 2019.

Nina Beck, a seasoned pianist, published songwriter, and Los Angeles performer with absolute pitch, studied with renowned pianists John Lewis, Modern Jazz Quartet leader, Paul Smith, and Terry Trotter, and counts legendary vocalist Ernie Andrews Among her many credits.
