NYC bassist Albey 'onBass' Balgochian's exploration of the underbelly of the bass is a study in the flexibility of his instrument.

”Balgochian provides overwhelming evidence that true creativity is in the hands of the individual practitioner” Jazz Chronicle Over the years Balgochian has earned a reputation as a dedicated, respected and accomplished bass player/composer & sound sculptor. A rare breed of funk and free improvisation with a “bottom end strong enough to support a convoy of tanks” Boston Globe. Albey's music grows from his roots in Funk, R & B, Soul, Blues & Rock, and branches out to World Music, Noise, Reggae, Free Improvisation and Performance Art. A sampling of credits include: House bassist for the original House of Blues in Cambridge, MA Member of the PRBand with 2X Handy Award winner Paul Rishell and Boston Best Blues Bands, Peter Parcekt. Lessons & Workshops at Berklee College of Music, The Outpost in New Mexico, Turn2 Music and the Z lab. He has performed and/or recorded with rocker Darryl Jones, R&B artists, Jr. Medlow & Big John Kroft, Maestro Cecil Taylor, Nuyorican poet Miguel Algarin, Beat Poet John Sinclair, Sun Ra's Marshall Allen, Reggae with One World and Dan DelSanto's World Beat as well as Japanese actor/dancer Min Tanaka and Mayo Yamaguchi. His performances with the Cecil Taylor Trio & Big Band earned them All About Jazz's Best Performances of '05 - '09 & '16
