Alain Ortiz Samada

Professional drummer, percussionist, composer and music producer.

About Me

Born on July 15th, 1983, in Santiago de Cuba, Alain Samada discovered his passion for rhythm at an early age. After moving to Havana with his family, he joined the school band at the age of nine, beginning a lifelong journey in percussion. Under the mentorship of the renowned timbal player Daniel Díaz Vila (former member of Ritmo Oriental), he mastered snare drum technique and developed deep musical discipline. He continued his studies at the Fernando Carnicer Music School and later graduated from the prestigious Amadeo RoldánConservatory, where his passion for drums flourished under César Rivero,Roberto Concepsión,Agustin Gomez,Mauricio Gutierrez 's guidance. His training included service in the Cuban Military Band and advanced studies at the University of the Arts (ISA), which he completed in 2010 with a highly acclaimed graduation concert. Beyond technique, Alain’s life and art were transformed by faith. After a personal encounter with God during his teenage years, his music gained new purpose — to express gratitude and share divine love through sound. For Alain, music is more than rhythm and melody; it is a language of the soul — one that, when touched by the divine, can soften even the hardest heart and lead it to the love of its Creator.

My Jazz Story

-I love Jazz because I find the art of making instant music poetic and challenging, using all the musical and technical tools and possibilities with which I can worship the Creator and reach a grateful heart. -Since I was born in Cuba, when I was nine years old, my father took me to see a concert by the Irakere Group in Havana. I was shocked and said in my heart, "This is what I want to do all my life." - The first musician I met was my own father who has an incredible musician within himself. Concert in Havana with great jazz pianists Chucho Valdés, Herbie Hancock, Gonzalo Rubalcaba and other super incredible artists.
