I love jazz because I have been listening to it since I was young and playing it I was first exposed to jazz at the age of 12 I have been involved with the Effendi Label for 23 years I've been to several great shows and frankly I couldn't tell you which one was the best The first jazz record I ever bought was a Mick Nock Quartet record My advice to new listeners is: open your ears and your mind

I have the opportunity to manage the Effendi label based in Montreal. The label has been collaborating with many of Canada's finest jazz musicians for 23 years. The majority of the artists on EFFENDI are stalwarts, tenacious and daring musicians or rising stars of the jazz scene. Around these musicians gravitate more than a hundred high caliber jazz artists. EFFENDI collaborates with dozens of Canadian musicians including : François Bourassa, the Auguste quartet, the Jazzlab Orchestra, Michel Donato, Yves Léveillé, Félix Stüssi, Rafael Zaldivar, Jocelyn Ménard, Yannick Rieu, Mireille Boily, Manoel Vieira, John Roney, Joe Sullivan, etc... He has also collaborated sporadically with international artists such as Ingrid and Christine Jensen, Karl Jannuska, Zhao Ke, Shai Maestro, Pierre de Bethmann, Baptiste Trotignon, Lee Konitz, Stéphane Belmondo, Seamus Blake, Donny McCaslin, Yaron Herman, Ted Nash, Rufus Reid, Mark Feldman, Fulvio Albano, Don Tompson, François Théberge, to name a few. Since 1999, Effendi has released 164 albums and organized thousands of concerts and over 120 international tours. To date, EFFENDI CDs have received hundreds of nominations for various awards such as: OPUS, FELIX, JUNO, ECMA, CHOC Jazzman, NJA, Victoires, Django d'Or, etc. Among these nominations, 87 prizes have been won. EFFENDI CDs are produced thanks to the financial participation of the artists, SODEC, Musicaction and the Canada Council for the Arts (CCA).
