Album Description

ABOUT THIS ALBUM: 'Contemporary Old School' is the debut album by Norwegian saxophonist Cecilie Grundt. The album was recorded 23-24 August 2018, and contains eight original compositions performed by Cecilie Grundt and her quintet that features trumpeter Øyvind Frøberg Mathisen, pianist Håvard Aufles, bassist Morten Berger Stai, and drummer Åsmund Mattias Smidt. All of the musicians have background from the jazz department at Trondheim Music Conservatory, NTNU. The band had been playing together on the professional Norwegian jazz scene for more than three years, developing an original sound as well as a strong communicative interplay through playfulness and curiosity.
