Album Description
ABOUT THIS ALBUM: 'Order and Chaos' is the second album by Norwegian saxophonist Cecilie Grundt. The album was recorded 12-13 March 2019, and contains eight original compositions performed by Cecilie Grundt and her quartet that features pianist Vigleik Storaas, bassist David Andersson and drummer Martin Heggli Mellem. In Cecilie Grundts on words: "Order and Chaos is an album consisting of selected compositions written over the last 10 years. During this period, I kept returning to the American 50's and 60's jazz, in particular the albums of saxophonists John Coltrane, Wayne Shorter, Sonny Rollins and Joe Henderson from Blue Note Records. The album is a tribute to the classical jazz quartet, where the melody plays an important role. The cover design by Nina Eide Holtan illustrates the tension between order and chaos, and the meeting between nature and geometry.
