GUSTAVO DANTAS - GUITAR

GUSTAVO DANTAS, an excellent Brazilian musician, was born in Niteroi, Rio de Janeiro. In Brazil he played with Francis Drake and the Vittor Santos Orchestra ranging in styles from Rock to Samba. Gustavo studied with Ian Guest and Luis Claudio Ramos, and was mentored by Carlinhos Watkins.

In 1990 he moved to Europe, developing and even broader range in rhythms while performing with artists such as Roots Godwana, Black Soul Reggae Band, Eddie Cole, Jon Sass and Angus Bangus.

In 1999 Gustavo moved to New York and began recording and performing with artists like Curtis Fowlkes, Jorge Amorim, Ogans, DK Dyson, Choro Ensemble and many other great ones.

His signature marks include the cuica sound from his electric guitar, but when called upon it, his bass guitar brings a soulful feel beyond his years. Gustavo is also a strong composer and arranger who seeks panache in every note.
