About Me

Fred Taylor is a drummer, percussionist, composer, and arranger, born in Spokane Washington in 1954. He has worked extensively nationwide as a leader, sideman, arranger, and producer in studios since 1970, working on singles, albums, and jingles, in nightclubs and in concert, in theater, and on radio.

In 1982, his album “Court of Circe” attracted international attention on the air and in magazines such as Down Beat and Cadence. His next album, “Processional”, featuring guitarist Gary Rollins, bassist James Clark, and woodwinds player Craig Lawrence, was released in December 2006. His third album, released 9-15-08, is ”Circling”, a jazz trio record with woodwinds great Bob Ackerman and stellar bassist Rick Crane. In 2009 he released “Live at Cecil's Vol 1.” with the same trio. On March 1, 2012 he released the ambitious 2-disc set of free improvisations with the Essex Improviser's Collective, called 'Lifting The Light'. Fred is now residing in Mukilteo, Washington, where he is running Ivy House Studios, doing session work, and working on new projects.
