Bryan Beninghove

"You don't know this guy?? - Check him out y'all!!"

About Me

Bryan Beninghove is a NY/NJ based saxophonist and multi-instrumentalist. As a composer and bandleader, he performs in a wide array of diverse musical styles - all fantastically pleasant on the ears and mind.

Beninghoveʼs latest release, “Beninghoveʼs Hangmen”; an eclectic collection of “creeptastic grinder-jazz”; placed number three on Lucid Cultureʼs list of the Top 25 Jazz Albums of 2011 and number seven on New York Music Daily's Top Albums of 2011. His first release, “Organ Trio”, an album of rollicking B3 “grits and gravy” earned a nod from the Village Voice as a top pick of 2009. As a composer, his music has been heard on Comedy Central, Bravo, and IFC. Originally from Westminster, MD, Bryan started playing the saxophone at age 10 and took his first bad solo in a bar at age 12. Moving to Baltimore at 18, he fell in love with the blues and organ jazz clubs, as well as the local rock scene. Bryan completed his education at William Paterson University (NJ) in 1999, and then moved to NYC.

Currently Bryan resides in Jersey City. There he performs regularly with the french gypsy jazz band Manouche Bag, leads the nine piece corporate band Soul Connection NYC, and can be heard with his Hangmen and Organ Trio as well as free-lancing with top NYC musicians.
