Jeff Presslaff

Pianist/trombonist/composer/arranger from NY, now living in Winnipeg.

About Me

I work as a pianist, trombonist, composer, and arranger. Lived in New York most of my life and worked with a lot of interesting artists including Benny Carter, Bill Barron, Ed Blackwell, Roswell Rudd, Rick Margitza, Stanley Jordan, George Garzone, Steve Nelson, Edgar Meyer, Cornelius Bumpus, and Sim Cain. Since 1997, I've lived in Winnipeg, Canada, and find the scene very active and rewarding. Have had the chance to do shows with Frank Foster, Rob McConnell, Phil Nimmons, Howard Levy, and many other great players, as well as having my compositions and arrangements performed regularly by the excellent Winnipeg Jazz Orchestra and the Ron Paley Big Band. The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation has been very supportive with frequent local and national broadcasts, and so has the Manitoba Arts Council which has funded several commissions.

Before moving to Canada, I taught at Princeton University, Bard College, and Union College.

I have a new piano trio album “Red Goddess”. All original tunes. Available at http://cdbaby.com/cd/jeffpresslaff
