Adele M Wilding
Award-winning jazz vocalist, composer and arranger
About Me
Award-winning Adele M. Wilding is a multi-talented singer/songwriter and
composer/arranger. In addition to rich, soul-inflected vocals, Wilding’s material showcases
her gifts as a songwriter and interpreter of classic jazz, soul and pop standards. She paid
her dues on the UK music scene, performing in notable jazz and singer-songwriter venues,
inclusive of London and Glasgow. UK highlights include solo and duo performances at the
Vortex Jazz Club, London and appearances at the Tavistock Music & Arts Festival, Devon
(2006) and the Edinburgh Fringe (2009).
Wilding has released three self-produced, commercial CDs: Emeralds (& Other Little Gems)
(2004, Blue Dawn Records/Indie), Sketches On Blue: Limited Edition EP (2005, Blue Dawn
Records/Indie) and Portholes & Skylights: Limited Edition EP (2009, ProdiGal
Records/Indie). Tracks from all three releases have resulted in excellent reviews and
transatlantic appearances in Manitoba. Following the release of the Portholes & Skylights
EP, Wilding embarked on live and radio appearances throughout the UK and on
international radio to promote the tracks, including listener favourites ‘Atlantic Lament’
and ‘This Deepest Azure’.
Born in Colchester, England to a Barbadian mother and an English father and raised in
Canada and Europe, Adele Marina Wilding is a classically trained pianist and contralto.
After receiving her BA With Distinction in Modern Languages and Music (Carleton), Wilding
studied on language and literature scholarships in Germany and France respectively. She
holds a PGCE in Secondary Education (Canterbury Christ Church University). Her musical
training culminated in a Master of Arts in Music Education from The Institute of Education
(University of London) and the Diploma in Jazz and Popular Music Studies (performance,
composition and arranging) from the renowned Goldsmiths College (University of London).
Further study in Canada led to mentoring in Vancouver with international jazz singer Dee
Daniels.
Miss Wilding is currently based in Western Canada. On December 18 2012, she appeared at
the celebrated Esplanade Theatre, Medicine Hat, performing as one of three Guest Vocalists
with the Medicine Hat Concert Band and the Medicine Hat Community Orchestra. She has
since been performing in duo and trio line-ups locally and across Western Canada with two
of the region’s finest jazz musicians: Juanita Faas, piano and Rick Lett, guitar/bass.
Appearances include a monthly residency at The Patio Cafe (Medicine Hat), the McNally
Robinson Bookstore (Winnipeg), a private corporate appearance in Lake Louise, and annual
shows in the Medicine Hat Jazz Festival, the latter of which has earned Wilding the
attention of the local media.
In April 2014, Wilding and her trio recorded a demo CD of originals and standards. In June
2014, the Adele M. Wilding Duo, featuring pianist Juanita Faas, performed a successful,
weekend tour of Manitoba. The duo and trio are also regular guests at and advocates for
Jazz Vespers events.
