About Me

Recording artist, Nicolas Bearde, a seasoned and highly respected showman, has established himself as a powerful presence in the contemporary jazz vocal mileu over this past decade. His silky baritone sound invites comparisons to Johnny Hartman, Lou Rawls, and Joe Williams, and his wit and engaging rapport captures and draws the audience into his live performances. Forged from his Nashville, (TN) roots and his 1980’s initiation into the thriving San Francisco music scene, Nicolas’ unique approach and electrifying delivery of his originals, time-tested standards, blues and other familiar jazz works, are soulful, swinging, improvisational and memorable!! Nicolas has 5 CD's out on his own label, Right Groove Records, his most recent album release, "Invitation" in January 2016, with coruscating solos by sax legend, Vincent Herring, and lush arrangements by grammy-winning pianist, Nat Adderley, Jr. rising quickly to the Top 20 on the Jazz Week Charts, garnering rave reviews at home and abroad. His 6th album is scheduled to be released mid 2019, featuring special guest, Eric Alexander. In addition to travelling with his own quartet, Nicolas currently tours as the vocalist and narrator for Vincent Herring's New York based "Story of Jazz Orchestra" that includes jazz luminaries Eric Alexander, James Carter, Jon Faddis, Jeremy Pelt, Steve Turre, Kenny Davis, Mike LeDonne and Carl Allen, and that celebrates 100 years of recorded jazz.
