Mark O'Leary taught John O'Mahoney for several years at the Wright Music Centre, John is from Ballincollig, he was a talented guitarist, indeed, he is important, he is the man who introduced Mark O'Leary to Sonic Youth and My Bloody Valentine. Mark O'Leary taught him every Sonic Youth song from Sonic Youth to Goo. Indeed O'Leary implored his family to get him into sound engineering, which they did and he is now a highly accomplished sound engineer in NYC. He was the right hand man of Andy Wallace (Nevermind Nirvana) for five years. Having engineered some of the most prominent names in the music business; Coldplay, The Strokes, a-ha, Ruth B (with Mike Elizondo), Depeche Mode, The Cribs (Ric Ocasek), Metric and many others. He works from a customized suite at Electric Lady Studios (Jimi Hendrix Studio). Along with Cillian Murphy he was a student of Mark O'Leary's at the Wright Music Centre in Cork. O'Leary intimated John O'Mahony was the most popular student there.
