Multitalented trumpeter, composer and singer Jonathan Bauer, most notably from the Grammy award-winning New Orleans Jazz Orchestra, returns with his highly anticipated sophomore release, Sings and Plays. Most jazz fans will recognize the title’s homage to Chet Baker’s body of work that flaunted his own vocal talents. In part, it was that very album—gifted to him by a friend & that inspired Jonathan to lay down his own voice on the upcoming project. However, it was not the only reason. “I grew up with my mom singing around me and my partner always likes it when I sing to her. It’s a way of showing affection”, he reflects. As he started to showcase his voice at more of his gigs, Jonathan realized his music was resonating with a larger audience. “People like it when you play trumpet, but they love it when you sing”.
