Larry Lawless
As a performer, his experiences range from symphony orchestra to jazz combo to country-western and rock bands. He was the founder and leader of “The Percussion Company”, a professional mallet percussion ensemble that was featured on a regional TV show out of Kansas City. He is the former drumline instructor/arranger for the University of Nebraska Cornhusker Marching Band, where his lines performed many times on national TV and in the Sun, Cotton, and Orange Bowl games. During the 1980’s he was the Percussion Caption Head for the Railmen Drum and Bugle Corps from Omaha, Nebraska. Larry has performed with the Lincoln, Omaha, Shreveport, and Wichita Falls Symphony Orchestras, country act \"Shootin\' From the Hip\", rock bands \"Circus\" and \"Parallel\", and jazz group \"The Ray Andrews Trio\".
Mr. Lawless is also a composer of works for percussion. His solo marimba book, “12 Etudes for 2 Mallet Marimba”, published by Innovative Percussion, is on the Texas All-State Auditions Material Selections List, and the Prescribed Music List for Texas State Solo Contest. His book of easy mallet duets, \"Mallet Appetizers for Two\", published by Row-loff Productions, is on the Florida State Music List. Professional affiliations include Percussive Arts Society, American Society of Composers and Publishers (ASCAP),The Recording Academy (Grammy Awards), Texas Music Educators Association, Texas BandMasters Association and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia. Mr. Lawless endorses Encore Mallets and Sabian Cymbals. He is currently President of the Texas Chapter of the Percussive Arts Society.
