About Me

Zoltan Szigeti is a Hungarian-born pianist, composer and educator.. Recently, he has been working as a university faculty member in China - associate professor of jazz piano and mentor at Berklee College of Music, Online Extension School (Boston, USA). Zoltan holds the “Foreign Expert in Higher Music Education in China” certificate issued by the Chinese government. In addition to his work, he also gives concerts and holds master classes at various colleges and music institutions in Southwest China. In 2018, Zoltan was invited to be a mentor and member of the International Mentor Collective at Berklee College of Music - Online Extension School. Zoltan originally has a classical musical background, he began playing piano at the age of four in Hungary and grew up with a European musical education in the tradition of Kodaly and Bartok. Later, Zoltan became interested in improvised music and jazz. Zoltan studied and performed jazz in Sweden. Between 2006 and 2009 he also worked as a film music composer, creating film scores for Swedish State Television and for Appolo Music Ltd. in Denmark. Zoltan's works also include arrangements for jazz trio and quartet commissioned for live performances, concerts, music festivals and studio recordings. As a bandleader (The Zoltan Szigeti Quartet), Zoltan has recoded a vinly album “Just Friends” (2023 Starsing Records, Shanghai) and as a sideman (pianist) for the album CD “Moon Walk” 2019 (Starsing Records). Zoltan has also worked as a Music Director for the public elementary school “School for Visually Impaired” and the Pro Artis Music Education Center in China, and creadted published works such as piano compositions, arrangements and transcriptions of orchestral works, performance and educational pieces for piano ensemble, music for choir and voice, and teaching works for jazz piano education.
