Yaniv Taubenhouse

About Me

Yaniv Taubenhouse is an internationally acclaimed jazz pianist and composer based in New York City. He has performed and recorded extensively throughout the United States and abroad, earning recognition for his lyrical approach, expressive touch, and distinctive artistic voice. His debut album as a leader, Here from There, featuring drummer Darren Novotny and bassist Garrett Jones, was released on Fresh Sound Records in 2014 to critical acclaim, introducing his unique voice as both a pianist and composer. Since its formation in 2014, the Yaniv Taubenhouse Trio—featuring bassist Rick Rosato and drummer Jerad Lippi—has become one of his primary creative outlets. The trio has released three critically acclaimed albums in its Moments in Trio series on Fresh Sound: Volume One, Perpetuation (Volume Two), and Roads (Volume Three). The fourth installment, Circles (Volume Four), is scheduled for release on November 13, 2026, on Fresh Sound. The trio also collaborated with French jazz vocalist Sarah Eden on Ailleurs…, released by Plaza Mayor Company Ltd. ​ In 2022, Taubenhouse released his first solo piano album, HOPE, on Fresh Sound. Featuring original compositions alongside music by Kenny Wheeler, Cole Porter, Henry Mancini, and Thelonious Monk, the album was praised for its lyricism, intimacy, and expressive depth. Born in Israel, Taubenhouse began studying piano at the age of six. He graduated from Thelma Yellin High School of the Arts in Tel Aviv and studied classical piano with Assaf Zohar, Hanna Shalgi, and Benjamin Oren. In 2009, he moved to the United States to further his musical education, studying with Pavlina Dokovska and Jura Margulis. His artistic development was also shaped through lessons with Richard Goode, Sonia Rubinsky, Brad Mehldau, Joanne Brackeen, and Sam Yahel. Taubenhouse attended The New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music on scholarship, where he earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Jazz Performance. Since establishing himself as an active presence on the New York jazz scene, he has continued to perform, record, and tour internationally as a pianist, composer, bandleader, and collaborator.
