Wim Leysen is a jazz pianist/composer, active on the New York as well as the European scene, playing and recording with Miho Hazama, Dave Liebman, Sam Anning, Sebastian Boehlen, Magnus Schriefl, Benjamin von Gutzeit, Alex Spradling, Guilhem Flouzat, Basak Yavuz, Bastian Weinhold, etc. in venues as Rockwood Music Hall, Klavierhaus, MSR studios, Red Rock Recording Studios, and many more. As a composer, Wim wrote for various international ensembles, ranging from string quartet to big band.
Graduated with honors as a Master in jazz-piano from the Manhattan School of Music, New York, funded by the Belgian American Educational Foundation,Wim holds an impressive resume. Private teachers include Phil Markowitz, Garry Dial, Anat Fort, Danny Grissett, Ron van Rossum and Liz Tobias.
