Wayne Zade

Wayne Zade teaches creative writing, American literature, and jazz studies at Westminster College in Fulton, Missouri.

About Me

I discovered my long love of jazz when I was about 12. Living in Chicago, I could listen to great jazz on the radio--d.j.'s like Daddy-o Daylie, Sid McCoy, Yvonne Daniels. I attended college at Notre Dame and each year attended the Collegiate Jazz Festival there to continue my interest. After graduate school, I had listened around enough to have my favorites and continued to amass a huge record and CD collection. I started to write about jazz when I began to work more and more of it into my American litrature classes, and I began a book project of interviews with American and Japanese jazz musicians about their practice and love of jazz. I expect that to keep me busy for a while!
