About Me
We don’t want to fit into a Genre. We have set out to create a Whole New Genre. CounterParts Live
“It’s not always about what a listener hears, but what they experience when they listen to music. Does the song evoke a memory, a feeling, a picture, or something completely uncommon or unexpected? Does it remind them of someone or something? No one is listening and thinking, “Wow, did you hear that F# ?” If I pour emotion into a recording or a performance, the listener will feel something. If I really communicate the song well, they will feel exactly what I am feeling.” Walter Runge

My Jazz Story
I love jazz. because when an artist like me composes music in a multitude of genres, with an infinite spectrum of emotion, people know that "jazz" effectively represents that diversity
in
the artist's musical vocabulary. My advice to new listeners is to leave expectations behind and allow the music you are listening to carry you away. Allow yourself to be influenced by
what you hear and you will discover something familiar, something surprising, and something sublime.
In a world that is moving further from natural living, relying on machines and technology as much as we are now, It is important to stay in touch with those things that make us human
in the first place! We are encouraging our audiences to stay in touch with the memories, emotions, thoughts, and ideas that bind us to every living being. We hope our older listeners
allow their memories and thoughts to be shared through the sounds of Evolutionary Jazz and to enjoy the images that music and art invokes. Our younger audience must be provoked
to welcome exciting new visions and to embrace the ideas that can only be realized through our compassion for humanity, spirit of kindness, and pure imagination. We hope that
everyone will exercise their own privilege of creation!
We must remain Human Beings, not just Humans Having.

My House Concert Story
I have performed in a house concert. I played two of my original compositions as a part of a larger collaboration with dancers, poets, and artists. When performers and listeners are
invited to someone's home, the familiarity of a living room is part of everyone's human experience. It is simply where people live! The listener has a familiar place to begin their journey
with an artist's story. Then... even if the artist takes them around the Milky Way and back again, the listener experiences the unique adventure from a safe and recognizable place. The
artist, the performer, is also reminded of the need to provide that for the listener, in order to make their artistic adventure palatable; whether it is a story universally relatable or a whole
new, surprising launch into the unknown.
