Synthesizers are musical instruments - Play!

Uli Rennert is an Austrian based piano and synthesizer player, and composer. Besides that he holds professorships in Graz/Austria and Basel/Switzerland. Rennert is focusing on synthesizers and live-electronics, used as expressive musical instruments, and constantly explores the various intersections between composition and improvisation. During 2019 the 'chordless trio' codeRED with Tin Džaferović (bass) and Andjelko Stupar (drums) was formed and recorded the first CD. Some years ago Uli Rennert startet projects around certain topics or mottos: * Project M — incfluenced by the music of Thelonious Monk, plus free improvisation concepts. Three clarinets (Peter Kunsek, Klaus Gesing, Gerald Preinfalk: Bb-, Eb- and Bass-Clarinets) and piano. * Project T — Historic jazz compositions by Duke Ellington, Henry Mancini, Benny Goodman, Cole Porter, and original works, played by an electro-acoustic band with synthesizer, clarinet, trombone, guitar, and drums (Peter Kunsek, Phil Yaeger, Frank Schwinn, Gregor Hilbe). * Project S — A string-sextet combined with synthesizers, clarinets, and double-bass. Music between Jazz, Free Improvisation, and contemporary chamber music. With Peter Kunsek (cl), Peter Herbert (bass), and Thomas Platzgummer's Linus Ensemble. *Von den Göttern weiss ich nichts — Music for mezzosoprano, spoken word, live-electronics, and instruments in small and variable settings. Poems and texts by Robert Gernhardt, Erich Fried, Pablo Picasso, Martin Luther, among others. With Sophie Rennert, Jörg-Martin Willnauer, Klaus Gesing, Réka Nagy, Peter Herbert, ...
