About Me
Brooklyn-based composer and producer
Truan Savage was born in Westchester County, New York, and spent his life growing up in a variety of places including London, New York City, and the Seattle area. He started playing piano at age 6, trumpet at age 10, and guitar, electric bass and drums at age 14. Truan studied jazz performance at Oberlin Conservatory of Music with Marcus Belgrave and Robin Eubanks, as well as composition and arranging with Wendell Logan. Although he entered Oberlin as a trumpet player, he emerged primarily a composer, arranger and producer. Since leaving school, Truan has been expanding his formal composition training into newer, more modern territories. Five Colors aims to highlight some of this blend of jazz tradition, popular songwriting influences, multi-instrumentalism and electronic production techniques.
