I love jazz because it is the music that allows me to connect to others and it allows me to be free! I was first exposed to jazz when I heard the the Gerald Wilson Orchestra in middle school. I met Michael Brecker, Chuck Mangione, Quincy Jones, Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter and more! The first jazz record I bought was John Coltrane "Live at the Village Vanguard." Spiritual changed my life! My advice to new listeners... let the music take you on a journey. Jazz belongs to all of us. It is in our DNA if you let it come out!
