About Me
Tomáš Liška is a bassist and composer originally from Rakovník. His genre range is wide,
spanning from projects combining jazz and electronics, over more than eleven years of
collaboration with Robert Křesťan and the band Druhá tráva, to his involvement in bands led by
Beata Hlavenková, Lenka Dusilová, Luboš Malina, or Michal Nejtek.
His purely original band, Invisible World, took its final form and lineup six years ago. This
formation is gaining recognition worldwide. Besides the virtuoso performances of its individual
members, the band is appreciated for its distinctive expression and sensitive fusion of original
music, jazz, and world music.
Tomáš Liška studied double bass at the Conservatory and Higher Specialized School of J. Ježek in
Prague. He then pursued his master's studies at the prestigious Jazz Institut Berlin, under the
guidance of renowned players and educators Greg Cohen and John Hollenbeck. He has received
several awards from prominent jazz festivals and workshops, especially in Poland, Belgium, and
Spain.
Tomáš's debut solo album, Invisible World (2009), received the Tais Awards and a nomination
for the Anděl Award. The subsequent albums, Milokraj, Bercheros Odyssey, Fragile Bliss, and
Invisible Faces, also garnered recognition. He won the Anděl Award 2020 for the album Hope.
