About Me

I play the piano and I sing standards. My specialty is the music of Frank Sinatra. I have performed for 30 years, nationally and abroad, in clubs, on jingles, cruiseships, at resorts and all major New York City Hotels also: Tavern On The Green, The Rainbow Room, The Supper Club and Harrah's in Atlantic City. My repertoire comes from the work of the great poets of the 20th Century: Berlin, Porter, Rodgers, Hart & Hammerstein, Kern, Van Heusen & Cahn, The Gershwins and their peers. Among those who have educated and inspired me are: Nat Cole, Ella Fitzgerald, Johnny Hartman, Billie Holiday, Rosemary Clooney, Count Basie, Louis Armstrong, Ray Charles, John Coltrane...there are more but this is the short list. In 1997 with, my friend and colleague, drummer Charlie Busterna...I formed the Tom Smith Big Band to celebrate and promote the health of Classic Swing Music. We appear in concert, at corporate events and private functions for kindred souls who share our love of jazz and swing.
