About Me
My Jazz Story
I love jazz because..it is THE ONLY native American art form and it's just ..........jazz. ...free........ improvisation.
I was first exposed to jazz...in HS . I played trumpet. I became a professional musician studying for 8 years with Adolph Sandole, received BA Music from Rowan (aka Glassboro). worked in Vegas, Tahoe, Hawaii, Europe, and oh,....Goose Bay Labrador
I met [musician name]...Freddie Hubbard, Roy Eldredge, played with Hank Mobley, shared the stage in a accompanying band for Maynard , Dizzy, Lew Tabackin, Urbie green
The best show I ever attended was. Louie Belson Big Band ..
The first jazz record I bought was.."Roulette Jazz Greats" featuring Clifford Brown (Cherokee), Charlie Parker (Confirmation), Stan Getz (Hershey Bar).and others. It inspired me to STUDY!! Transcribe, play, write (and get a degree).
My advice to new listeners..learn to improvise in the scale not the chord..
Or whatever else you have in mind.
