About Me
My Jazz Story
I love jazz because...my remembering is foggy. Possibly Santana and then John McLaughlin set
the mood. But i was the only one in my neighborhood to listen to Michal Urbaniak,
Softmachine,
Albert Mangelsdorff, Volker Kriegel, Larry Coryell, Weather Report, Weather Report, Weather
Report, Frank Zappa,.....Carla Bley / Paul Haines & the Jazz Composers Orchestra was a big
thing for me those days.... all the great cats have been playing that project and, my God, MILES
❤️
I was first exposed to jazz...no idea, but i remember a concert of Blood Sweet and Tears and a
that time for me unknown guitar player, who did bend the high e string until it broke and didn’t
stophis solo by continuing to bend the hell out of the B string....... years later i understood
this was Mike Stern. I had the pleasure to meet him often during the last years and enjoyed
many concerts. He is THE guitarplayer.
I met [musician name]...thanks to my job in the music industry i’ve been blessed to meet MANY.
The best show I ever attended was...sorry, i don’t like the ranking thing the best this the best
that, but if i am forced to decide for one “show”. ... King Crimson, somtime in the 80’s .
incredible power, energy, sharp, just pure perfection...
The first jazz record I bought was...no idea, i always loved a wide, broad slectrum of styles and
genres - not particular jazz. And .... maybe Beatles, Stones, Eric Burdon (WAR!) the Motown
musicians made me moving.
My advice to new listeners...just listen
Or whatever else you have in mind..... i LOVE playing
