About Me

Tasha Smith Godinez is a jazz and classical harpist with an eclectic and soulful musical style.

Native San Diegan, Tasha Smith Godinez is a performer, composer, recording-artist and lifelong musician. Her harp studies began when she was eight years old in San Diego and continued at San Diego State University where she earned both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in music performance. Tasha has also earned a Diplôme Supérieur from the Ecole Normale de Music Alfred Cortot in Paris, France. Throughout her career, she has performed on prestigious stages worldwide including recent performances at the American Harp Society Summer Institute, Mexico International Harp Festival and the Buenos Aires HarpWeek. As a composer, Tasha’s works combine her appreciation of traditional and contemporary harp techniques and a blend of cultural styles, creating her unique sound. Her fresh approach to harp music has been accepted worldwide. As founder of ENNANGA Records and Publishing her discography includes Postcards from the Soul (2014), HarpCHICK (2020), Out of the Desert (2022) and A New Day (2024). Additionally, she has recordings released on both Cold Blue Records and Centaur Records. Tasha teaches harp lessons in San Diego, California where she is Professor of Harp at the University of San Diego (USD) and Palomar College as well as director of the San Diego Harp Academy.
