About Me

NYC based recorder player, singer, and composer Tali Rubinstein began her musical path as a young girl. A student of recorder player and singer Bracha Kol, she has been professionally trained in classical recorder performance for 15 years, later on to dive into the jazz and be- bop world with jazz flautist Ilan Salem. Tali has graduated with honors from prestigious music institutions in Israel: Thelma Yellin High School of the Arts (classical performance), Rimon School of Jazz and Contemporary Music, and The Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance (jazz performance). Recently, Tali graduated with honors from Berklee College of Music, Boston. During her studies at Berklee College Tali was discovered by multiple Grammy Award winning Spanish producer Javier Limón. For the past two years, she has been collaborating with Limón on several projects, including as player and arranger in his masterpiece album “Promesas de Tierra” (2013). In September 2014 Tali released her second duo album “Tal y Tali” together with pianist Tal Even-Tzur, produced by Limón. Tali was recipient of many scholarships and prizes along the years: America-Israel Cultural Foundation Scholarships 1994-2006 (Tali was also chosen as the foundation's featured artist of the week in May 2013); Second prize at the seventh International Recorder Festival Contest 2004 in Utrecht, The Netherlands; Gilad Shein Memorial Scholarship (Rimon School); Full tuition scholarship as well as the W.S. Kenney award for outstanding achievement (Berklee College). In 2014 Tali was chosen to perform her own concert representing Berklee College as part of the Concervatory Project at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, Washington D.C. ​ Tali has worked with world-renowned musicians such as: Latin superstar Alejandro Sanz (as performer and arranger for the 14th annual Latin Grammys, Las Vegas); jazz clarinet virtuoso Anat Cohen, jazz pianist and former member of Paul Simon's band Alain Mallet (as composer, player, and singer in his upcoming debut album), Moroccan Sephardic singer Emil Zrihan; jazz vocalist Kevin Mahogay, percussion player Jamey Haddad, and others. Israeli leading artists she has collaborated with include Yoni Rechter, Idan Raichel, David Broza, Dan Toren, Dana Berger, and Dudu Fisher. Tali played in master classes with prominent baroque artists Kes Booke, Marion Verbruggen, Han Toll, Sebastian Marq, Michael Schneider, Kate Clark, Florilegium Ensemble, and others. Major venues and festivals worldwide she has played in include: Israel Festival (Jerusalem), Noise Off Festival (Madrid), Tri-C Jazz Festival (Cleveland), First Night Festival (Boston), International Recorder Festival (Utrecht), Sala Clamores (Madrid), The Culture Palace (Tel Aviv), Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum (Boston), Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts (NYC), and more. She has performed as soloist with The Andalusian Orchestra, Ashkelon (togeher with Tal-Even Tzur), the Rimon Jazz Institute Big-Band, and the Thelma-Yellin Orchestra.
