My Jazz Story
I was first exposed to jazz in the
Spring 1975 with the Maynard
Ferguson Big Band at Waltham
High School.
A suburb of Boston, MA
Highlights: Lin Biviano on Lead
Trumpet, Bob Summers in the jazz
trumpet chair and Bruce Johnston
on Bari Sax….and of course…
Maynard Ferguson fronting the
band…playing arrangements from
their “Live at Jimmy’s” recording
on Columbia Records.
I was a Junior in High School and
decided after attending this
performance that I would pursue
a career in music.
