Saxophonist, composer and arranger from Iceland
Stefán S. Stefánsson is an Icelandic saxophonist, flutist, composer, arranger, and educator. A graduate of Berklee College of Music, he has built a career spanning performance, composition, and music education. His works have been performed by ensembles including the Danish Radio Big Band, the Reykjavík Big Band, the Winnipeg Jazz Orchestra, and the Orquestra de Jazz do Algarve. As a performer and recording artist, Stefán has released several acclaimed albums featuring his original music, blending jazz with influences from world music and contemporary orchestral writing. His compositions have received national recognition, including Icelandic Music Awards. Alongside his performing career, Stefán serves as Principal of Tónlistarskóli Árbæjar (Árbær Music School) in Reykjavík, where he is actively involved in developing innovative approaches to music education. He continues to compose, arrange, perform internationally, and contribute to the advancement of jazz through both artistic and educational projects.
