About Me
French saxophone player and composer
Sol Léna-Schroll is a French saxophonist active on both the French and Norwegian jazz scenes. After studying at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris (CNSMDP), he moved to Oslo, where he lived from 2019 to 2023. There, together with Sigrid Aftret, Hector Léna-Schroll, and Clément Merienne, he co-founded L’Autre Collectif and L’Autre Festival, with the aim of fostering connections between the French and Norwegian creative music scenes. An eclectic musician, he enjoys engaging with a wide range of musical styles and performs across Europe in ensembles of various sizes. For the past three years, he has co-led the duo Cycles with Clément Merienne, whose debut album Cymes was released on Autres Records in 2022. He also leads his own quartet, BAUM, featuring Fanny Ménégoz, Samuel Ber, and Étienne Renard. Sol is also a member of the Norwegian ensembles OJKOS and Det Nye Norsk Storband, both of which are dedicated to supporting and promoting emerging musicians and composers across Europe. Through L’Autre Ensemble, he has collaborated with artists such as Eve Risser, Kalle Moberg, and Matt Choboter, Fanny Ménégoz
