About Me

Having studied under Paul Dunmall and Jackie Mclean,Simon peat spent his formative playing years in Paris, playing with visiting American artists(Jonny Griffin,Charles Lloyd to name a few). For the past two years he has been based in the uk,where as well as playing in his own bands, and with the top UK acts,he also runs his own jazz club(the One Eleven Club). His angular playing style and frenetic passages of improvisation are reminiscient of his mentor Jackie Mclean's.Recent tours of Europe and the US.Reviews “ One of the most exciting live acts to emerge in recent years!” Jazzman. “Peat combines beautiful melodicism with striking raw power! One to watch out for” Nice Matin. “Exhilirating - the sheer joie de vivre of Peat and his band is infectious!” Jazz Hot. “One minute soulful, romantic melodies; the next full on raging grooves! The concert had everything”. Quotidien De Paris. “Great group! Beautiful playing by Peat, sensuous vocals from Misty Rowe, a great rhythm section, topped off by the fantastic Omar Puente making his violin soar towards the stratosphere”. What's On Guide.
