About Me
My Jazz Story
I was first exposed to jazz as a kid growing up in San Antonio. My parents were both Piano professors in San Antonio and I grew up listening to Jazz almost nightly
on the Trinity University radio station, KRTU. My dad went to high school with Jazz Pianist, Bill Evans in Plainfield, NJ before going off to Julliard in New York City,
so I grew up with transcriptions of Evans'. I love jazz because there are always new tensions to explore and new musical sentences to find. It is such a deep well of
creative ideas, with new emotions to explore every day! I have a deep respect for the artists that have gone before, who have set the stage for new composers to
build upon.
