My Jazz Story

I love jazz because...it has everything: groove, creativity, rich harmony, tells a story, deals with modern culture. I was first exposed to jazz...near the end of high school I met [musician name]...Lots of great players, I am thankful. The best show I ever attended was...Sonny Rollins in Boston, 1999. It blew me away. The first jazz record I bought was...John Coltrane @ Archie Shepp-New Thing at Newport '65. I hated it, it was way over my head at the time My advice to new listeners...Don't try too hard to like something-but be respectful of it. Listen to what you like! Or whatever else you have in mind: Feel the swing, don't fight the groove!
