Sandy Eldred

Sandy Eldred is a bassist (acoustic & electric), composer, educator, and improviser.

About Me

Sandy Eldred is an internationally acclaimed bassist, recording artist, composer, and music educator currently living in Philadelphia, PA. Eldred is known for his inventiveness and command across music genres. He is represented by Ukrainian record label, LabelWhoAble.

Eldred is co-founder of U.S.E. Trio, Multi Mansions, and Crosscurrents Ensemble. He is a member of the Bogdan Gumenyuk Quartet, the Michael Hudson-Casanova Sextet, and leader of the Sandy Eldred Trio.

Since permanently joining Norman David and the Eleventet at age 20, Eldred has become one of Philadelphias most in demand bassists for large ensemble. He has held the bass chair for numerous large ensembles including, Ian O’Beirne’s Slowbern, Jamal Jones’ Bureau of Sonic Wonderland, Matt Gallagher’s Philly Big Band, and the Earl Phillips Big Band. He has also performed with the Lars Halle Jazz Orchestra, the South Philly Big Band, and Bobby Zankel and the Warriors of the Wonderful Sound alongside the great, Muhal Richard Abrams.

Eldred studied at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, PA (M.M. 2013). He is a founding member of Jazz Mission, an international educational project that helps to inspire the younger generation of musicians in Ukraine. As an educator, he offers lessons, masterclasses, and workshops. Eldred has taught students at colleges and universities in the United States, Canada, and Eastern Europe.
