Sandy Eldred is a bassist (acoustic & electric), composer, educator, and improviser.
About Me
Sandy Eldred is an internationally acclaimed bassist, recording artist, composer, and music educator
currently living in Philadelphia, PA. Eldred is known for his inventiveness and command across
music genres. He is proud to be represented by Ukrainian record label, LabelWhoAble.
Eldred is a co-founder of U.S.E. Trio (Urbina, Scarano, Eldred), Multi Mansions, Crosscurrents
Ensemble, and Mars Apes. He is a member of the Bogdan Gumenyuk Quartet, the Michael Hudson-
Casanova Sextet, and leader of the Sandy Eldred Trio.
Eldred is a member of large ensembles including Norman David and the Eleventet, Jamal Jones’
Bureau of Sonic Wonderland, Ian O’Beirne’s Slowbern, and the Earl Phillips Big Band. He has also
performed with the Lars Halle Jazz Orchestra, the South Philly Big Band, Matt Gallagher’s Philly Big
Band, and Bobby Zankel and the Warriors of the Wonderful Sound featuring Muhal Richard Abrams.
Eldred received his M.M. (Master of Music) degree from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia,
PA. As an educator, he offers lessons, masterclasses, and workshops, both in person and online.
Eldred is an original member of Jazz Mission, an educational project that helps to inspire the
younger generation of musicians in Ukraine. He has taught students, directed ensembles, and held
master classes at numerous colleges and universities in the United States, Canada, and Ukraine.
