My name is Samuel D Thomas(aka) Sammy Thomas and Atiba Osayande Kenyatta).I would like to start out by saying that my mother-in-law Ardella Cooper bought me my very first drum kit.I am Formerly a founding member of Atiba and Drift Silver also a studio musician with Philadelphia International Records,Sigma Sound, and Alpha Sound Studio Sessions, Pat Tobin& Associates. Member of the American Federation of Musicians Local 77. Associated with noted musicians such as Philly Joe Jones ( my mentor),Rufus Harley,Monette Sudler, Emmett(Lumpy)King,Myrtle Young, Johnny Drew,Frank Foster,Nate Wiley John Blake, John Washington(Atiba- Saxaphonist), Dennis Harris(Atiba Guitarist), Leon (Zack) Zachary,Norman Harris, Eugene ( “Lamb Chop” ) Curry , Ron (”Have Mercy”) Kersey played Keyboards for Atiba, Vaneese Thomas ( daughter of the legendary “Walking The Dog Rufus Thomas”), Carolyn Mitchell both members of Drift Silver.
