About Me
Born and spend most of my life in Kerala,
the southmost state in India. The intensely
green tropical state has been the main
force behind the formation of my world
view.
I was more of a listener than a musician
until late teen and then I was drawn into
Karnatic Classical music. My interest soon
expanded to hindustani and western
classical music. Then I found a flute that
belonged to someone, started playing with
it, and eventually got enough courage to
approach a great flautist K.S
Gopalakrishnan. I thik that is where I
became a musician in its real sense.
In the last several years, I had been slowly,
but surely horning my skills as a musician.
In 1999 I came to Philadelphia. After
playing in my basement for a while, I
decided to expose myself. First through
posting my songs in various sites, and then
by forming my first band and playing in and
around Philly. This is the time when my
music transformed from a purely
hindustani classical to more or less
traditional Jazz.
In the last three years, my music has
moved again towards classical, but with a
twist. After all these years I cam play my
music without regards to its genre. I play
what I like to hear the most.
My Jazz Story
I love jazz because it gives me freedom to explore, encourage me to follow the music instead of the rules.
