Roger Lent lives in Manhattan and works regularly as a trumpet player as well as a pianist. The Uptown Brass Quintet and the Roger Lent trio and octet are his primary creative outlets. His website address is www.rogerlent.com. Roger was born in Florida and was raised from the age of 4 in Houston, TX. He went on to study music at the University of North Texas and later at Rutgers University. Roger has had two main trumpet teachers, Don Jacoby and Bill Fielder. He has studied piano with Lorrie Glaze and William Daghlian in New York. Over the years, Roger has performed with many excellent musicians at venues such as 'Birdland', 'The Blue Note','Symphony Space', 'Jazz @ Lincoln Center', 'The McKittrick' and 'The Iridium' in New York to 'The Atlantic Music Festival' in Maine, 'The Aspen Festival' in CO, 'The Jazz Showcase' in Chicago, 'Ronnie Scotts' in London, 'The Edingurgh Festival' Scotland, 'The Montreal Jazz Festival' and Symphony centers across the U.S. A couple of the honors that Roger received while studying include First prize in the International Trumpet Guild's Jazz competition in 1995 held in Bloomington, Indiana and semifinalist in the Thelonious Monk Trumpet Competition in 1997 held at the Kennedy Center.
