Richard Perks

Rich is a guitarist/ composer based in East London, UK.

About Me

As both guitarist and composer Rich exhibits a keen interest in anything unusual, progressive and innovative. He has extensive live, studio and theatre experience in the commercial industry; has toured internationally with many accomplished artists; and continues to be in great demand as a session guitarist. He also performs much contemporary, experimental, improvised, and World music – specialising in fretless electric guitar. His debut album Imposition received critical acclaim, and his music has been performed globally. He was awarded a PhD from Brunel University in 2013 – 'Combining Musical Identities Through Composition and Improvisation' – and is currently a Lecturer in Music Performance at the University of Kent and Lecturer in Popular Music (Guitar) at the Institute of Contemporary Music Performance (London). As well as working as a session guitarist, he regularly performs with his improvisation based group vLookup Trio, The Andrew Linham Jazz Orchestra, and a variety of eclectic World music ensembles.
