My Jazz Story
I love jazz because...it allows more freedom of musical expression than any other musical genre i know.
I was first exposed to jazz...when i saw "Lady Sings The Blues" at the movies. loved billy d. williams and diana ross, but had never heard of billie holiday prior to that. immediately after the movie, i ran to the music store and bought a book of the soundtrack's sheetmusic. have been a fan of jazz ever since.
I met [musician name]...Nancy Wilson, Sheila Jordan when i first started singing in my 40's
The best show I ever attended was...hard to speak of in terms of "best". each show has been "the best" at the time it was happening!
The first jazz record I bought was...Duke Ellington's "Black, Brown & Beige"
My advice to new listeners...try to listen to at least one track of something other than your favorite kind of music everyday.
