My Jazz Story

I love jazz because...I love many forms of old music. I love blues, spirituals, ragtime and others. In America, jazz is its finest music. I was first exposed to jazz in my hometown of Detroit, from all around me. I met Howard Armstrong and Karl Martin in 1979, Mose Allison in 1980, Carmen Mastren in 1981. The most astonishing show I ever attended was Jimi Hendrix at Cobo Hall in 1968. The first jazz record I ever bought was Benny Carter's "Additions to Further Definitions" from Sears in Lincoln Park, Michigan in 1970. My advice to new listeners is listen to everything you can. The world is full of miracles.
