My Jazz Story

I was exposed to jazz in the basement of drummer Paul Lagos, who guided Victor Conte and me (we both lived there) through his hundreds of jazz albums of Coltrane, Monk, Miles, Bird, etc. I have the privilege of working with Red Holloway in the John Mayall Bluesbreakers Living in Los Angeles, I went to the Lighthouse and Shelley Manne's Manhole to see Bill Evans, Monk, lots of great local players The first jazz record I bought was Coltrane Live at the Village Vanguard Listen to everything, old and new
