About Me
My Jazz Story
I love jazz because I was born into a musical family that loved jazz. My father was a jazz musician and my mother loved the music so much she bleed her knowledge of the music into all her children. I love the music because of its beauty and strength. I love the intellectual side of jazz and the emotional. I love the anger in the music and the sweetness of the music. I love the sound, the variety and feeling of jazz. It is my most preferred music! I love jazz! Myself also a musician (singer) I try to incorporate as much of my knowledge of jazz into the songs I sing.
I was first exposed to jazz... as a baby in my home listening to music played by my father or just listening to records being played.
I met [musician name]...
The best show I ever attended was... Miles Davis, Nina Simone and Sly and the Family Stones at Cobo Hall in Detroit 1969, I was 11 years old. My mother took us to the concert, and we got to go back stage because she knew Miles. They spoke for a long time sitting and talking like they were brother and sister. After that I talked with Miles for an hour. Nina Simone walked right by me.
The first jazz record I bought was... John Coltrane's First Trane.
My advice to new listeners...
Or whatever else you have in mind.
My House Concert Story
I been to many houses were jazz musician have jammed the night away but not sure if I've ever been to a house jazz concert. Been to a few classical concerts in house but not jazz. So I look forward to hearing and having that experience.
